Our history

The first official steps to found our mission have begun on March 7th 2006, when a group of a few faithful wrote a letter to His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, asking him to give the blessing and the support for those Christian Orthodox from North of Denver, Colorado to have a church.

The Episcopate sent on April 17th, 2006 the Very Reverent Fr. Dumitru Paun, to preside the meeting to establish the mission “Saint Dimitrie the New”.

On May 26th, 2007 the Episcopal Council of the Romanian Orthodox Church in America approved the foundation of our new mission. As a result, they sent on October 1st, 2007, as parish priest, the Rev. Fr. Ioan Bogdan. The very next day after he arrived, our mission was registered with the state of Colorado as a new nonprofit organization.
